Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) is located in County Donegal, a tourist region in the North West of Ireland  that is one of the most beautiful in the country and well serviced with transport links.

LYIT is a lively and inspirational place that attracts a creative mix of 3,000 students both from the local area and from 31 different countries. This gives us a vibrant array of cultures and activities on campus and a friendly, supportive and relaxed atmosphere where students and staff work closely together. The Institute has partnership agreements with over 60 universities all over the world and offers programs of study in various areas and levels, anging from undergraduate to masters and doctoral degrees.

The college’s two campuses are based in Letterkenny, the commercial hub of the county, and in Killybegs, a picturesque fishing town and Ireland’s premier seaport.

 These modern, integrated campuses encourage strong academic learning and career-focused practical experience. It has excellent facilities in all departments, such as a suite of graphic design studios, state-of-the-art nursing resources, special purpose laboratories, training kitchens and restaurants, and an on-campus business development centre, CoLab, to support spin-off enterprises. The multi-purpose centre, An Dánlann, houses are an excellent sport and recreational facilities in addition to the medical centre, counselling service, careers office and chaplaincies.

Any applicant applying based on non EU awards/qualifications must apply directly to the International Office at LYIT.  In order to be considered for entry international applicants must present:

UNDERGRADUATE:

   A qualification that is recognised as being equivalent to a Level 5 Irish qualification.

At least grade H5 in two higher-level papers, together with Grade O6/H7 in four other subjects of the Leaving Certificate examination, to include Mathematics and Irish or English.

POSTGRADUATE:

Applicants must have attained a 2nd class honours or higher at honours degree level (Level 8)

Letterkenny has a good variety of inexpensive accommodation close to the campus, so you can enjoy the buzz of student life without breaking the bank. There is no on-campus or college-owned accommodation but finding pleasant and affordable student accommodation is not an issue in Letterkenny. There are apartments specifically built for the student market, as well as options for family stays, houses to rent on a shared basis, etc. The Students’ Union compiles and updates a list of accommodation each year.

Letterkenny Student Accommodation is a modern, stylish and affordable purpose built Section 50 complex consisting of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom Apartments and Townhouses, which have been designed and built specifically for Students attending the Letterkenny Institute of Technology.

Approved by Letterkenny Institute of Technology the Apartments & Townhouses are located in the heart of Letterkenny and all are within 6-7 minutes’ walk to the Institute of Technology and are conveniently located within 5 minutes walking distance of shops, bars, clubs, cinema, doctor and dentist surgery's, chemists, bus station, etc.
